SHAWINIGAN, Que. – The 2018 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League Entry Draft takes place on Saturday morning at Shawinigan’s Centre Gervais Auto.
The Sea Dogs currently hold three first round picks for this year’s draft, including the second overall selection. Fans can watch the excitement unfold on TVA Sports beginning at 11 a.m.
Along with the second overall pick, Saint John is also scheduled to select eighth and 15th. The eight overall pick – originally Gatineau’s – was acquired in the Joe Veleno trade with the Drummondville Voltigeurs this past December. The 15th overall pick was acquired on Friday morning in a deal with the Rimouski Oceanic, which saw Saint John also pick up a fourth round pick in exchange for forward Cedric Pare.
Saint John currently has 17 selections in Saturday’s 14 round draft – seven of which are in the first four rounds.

The Chicoutimi Sagueneens currently own the first overall pick.
The Sea Dogs did not pick until the third round of last year’s draft at Harbour Station, selecting defenceman Brendan Sibley with their first pick. The last time Saint John picked in the opening round was in 2016 when the team took Olivier Mathieu 11th overall.
