BOUCHER, D’ORIO NAMED STUDENT & PLAYER OF THE MONTH
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs are proud to announce forward Anthony Boucher and goaltender Alex D’Orio have each won team awards for the month of September.
Boucher, 19, is the Swagelok Student of the Month.
The native of Levis, Quebec, is working toward his CEGEP diploma through distance education. He is enrolled in three classes and has already submitted three assignments with above-average results. He is well on his way to a successful semester.
On the ice, Boucher netted his first Sea Dog goal, a shorthanded marker, in a 6-4 loss to the Moncton Wildcats on September 29th.
D’Orio, 18, is the Irving Oil Player of the Month.
The Sherbrooke, Quebec, product opened the season with confidence after returning to Saint John from Pittsburgh’s training camp, where he signed a National Hockey League contract with the Penguins.
D’Orio played the Sea Dogs’ first three games of the season. In the second game, he turned aside 31 shots and was named second star in a 3-1 loss to the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles on September 23rd. He followed that with a 46-save, first-star performance in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Charlottetown Islanders on September 28th. He finished the month with an 0-2-1 record, a 2.62 goals-against average and a .927 save percentage.
