Mark Grametbauer made 42 saves on Wednesday night at Harbour Station as the Acadie-Bathurst Titan defeated the Saint John Sea Dogs 3-2.
The Titan opened the scoring at 10:42 of the first when Liam Leonard snapped a low wrister past Mikhail Denisov. Four minutes later the Sea Dogs took to the power play where Nathan Larose tied the game with a blast from the hash marks. With less than 20 seconds to go in the period Evan MacKinnon rushed the net and launched a high shot under the post and in to give the Titan the lead heading into the second.
Ethan Crossman made it 3-1 at 13:17 when he came down the left hand side with speed during a Sea Dogs power play lifting it high over Denisov’s shoulder. As the period came to an end Aiden MacIntosh gained a step on the defender as he entered the zone and lifted a beauty back hand shot beating Grametbauer and bringing the Sea Dogs within one.
The third period was all Sea Dogs pressure as they mounted a 17 shot attack but could not beat Grametbauer for the third and tying goal. With a minute to go Denisov was pulled for the extra attacker but the Sea Dogs were unable to convert.
