GREEN, SAFIN NAMED STUDENT & PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR OCTOBER

SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs are proud to announce Matt Green and Ostap Safin have each won team awards for the month of October.

Green, 19, is the Swagelok Student of the Month.

The native of Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, is enrolled in his third semester of university courses at University of New Brunswick – Saint John, taking Business and Nutrition.  He currently holds the highest mark out of 49 students in his Business class, and scored the highest mark in the class on his midterm. His prorated mark after four assignments and one midterm is over 100%.

On the ice, the fourth-year centre recorded one goal and five points in ten games.

Safin, 18, is the Irving Oil Player of the Month.

The product of Prague, Czech Republic, registered six goals, 17 points, and a +4 rating in 13 games in October. Highlights included two goals and one assist in a 4-0 win over the Charlottetown Islanders on October 6th, and two goals and two assists in a 5-4 overtime triumph over the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on October 29th.

The Edmonton Oilers’ prospect leads the Sea Dogs this season with 7 goals and 23 points in 22 games.
