POIRIER SCORES FIRST Q GOAL IN LOSS TO ARMADA

The Saint John Sea Dogs were defeated by the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada 7-2 on Sunday afternoon at Harbour Station.

The first period was highlighted by an offensive outpouring from both sides. Robbie Burt and Aleksi Anttalainen dropped the gloves for a spirited affair after Burt laid a thunderous hit on Cole Fraser. The Armada opened the scoring when Thomas Ethier roofed a rebound over Tommy Da Silva. The Sea Dogs responded when Yohan Plamondon scored his second of the year ripping a wrister  past Mikhail Denisov.   The game took a strange turn after the Armada were called for a penalty late in the period. A goal was awarded to Blainville-Boisbriand from two minutes earlier after a review and the clock was set back to 3:17 remaining in the first. The goal was a wraparound by Thomas Ethier that just crossed the line but was pulled out by Robbie Burt. Overage defenseman Michael Campoli left the game shortly after, after taking a nasty hit behind the Armada net. Shots in the period were 18-15 Armada.

The second period opened with a scary moment as Brendan Sibley took a hit to the head from Aleksi Anttalainen, Anttalainen received a five minute major for checking to the head and a game misconduct. Sibley was shaken up on the play but returned to the game. Jeremie Poirier then netted his first ever QMJHL goal at 5:28 on a two-on-one with Luke Wilson. Poirier had a slick finish tucking a backhand shot top corner over Denisov, tying the game at 2-2. The came a string of goals for the Armada. Thomas Ethier potted his second of the game at 16:43 to put the Armada ahead 3-2. Luke Henman and Jasper Rannisto then scored back-to-back goals at 14:04 and 15:59 respectively to give the Armada a 5-2 lead. Shots on goal in the second were 13-6 Armada.

The third period saw the Armada add another two goals from Charles-Antoine Gigure and Peyton Hoyt, for a final score of  7-2 Armada. Shots on goal favored Blainville-Boisbriand 12-8.
