REID, D’ORIO WIN MONTHLY AWARDS
SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs are proud to announce forward Ben Reid and goaltender Alex D’Orio have won team awards for the month of January.
Reid, 18, is the Swagelok Student of the Month.
The Quispamsis-native began his season with the Sea Dogs enrolling in two classes: a business course and a psychology class. Both of these courses were classroom-based. When Ben left the Sea Dogs for a short stint in St. Stephen, he opted not drop his courses and pick up an online class. Despite the driving and distance involved, he made regular trips to Saint John to attend classes, meet with his group and complete his projects. His instructor described Ben as a dedicated and determined student. He earned an A- in Business — one of the highest marks in the class — and a B- in psychology.
On the ice, Reid scored the first two goals of his QMJHL career, and added an assist, in eight games played.
D’Orio, 18, is the Irving Oil Player of the Month.
The native of Sherbrooke, Quebec, worked tirelessly to help his club earn four points in January with a 1-6-2 record, a 4.91 goals-against average and .885 save percentage. He faced 39 shots or more in eight of his nine appearances last month, including a 44-save performance in a 4-1 win over the Quebec Remparts on January 20th.
Congratulations, Ben and Alex!
