SEA DOGS RECALL G STEWART BAGNELL

SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs have recalled goaltender Stewart Bagnell from the (Dartmouth) Steele Subaru Major Midgets of the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League (NSMMHL).

Bagnell, 16, has played 18 games in his second campaign with Steele Subaru, posting a 13-4 record with a 1.89 goals-against average and a .930 save percentage. The Halifax product, listed at 6’1″ and 166 lbs., made his QMJHL debut with the Sea Dogs on November 3rd, turning aside 30 shots in a loss to the Sagueneens in Chicoutimi.

Saint John selected him in the eighth round (145th overall) of the 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft. He also appeared in two preseason games with the Sea Dogs.

He is expected to dress tonight when the Sea Dogs host the Acadie-Bathurst Titan at Harbour Station.

The Sea Dogs also announced forward Nick Deakin-Poot will miss the remainder of the regular season with an upper-body injury.

Deakin-Poot, 18, was injured in Sunday’s game at Rimouski. He had two goals and four points in 18 games after signing as a free agent on October 4th.

The Georgetown, Ontario, native will return home for the duration of his recovery.
