SEA DOGS RECALL MATTHEW WILLIAMS

SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs have recalled goalie Matthew Williams from the Summerside Western Capitals of the Maritime Hockey League (MHL).

Williams, who turned 19 in February, is in his second season with Summerside. In 32 games, he had a record of 14-13-4 with a 3.52 goals-against average and .900 save percentage. The Capitals are tied 1-1 in their best-of-seven, first-round playoff series with the Dieppe Commandos.

The native of Truro, Nova Scotia, appeared in four preseason games for Saint John this year, and played in one regular season game last year. He was originally signed as a free agent by the Sea Dogs before the start of the 2015-16 season.

Williams is scheduled to join the Sea Dogs in time for Friday’s game against the Charlottetown Islanders at 7 p.m. at Eastlink Centre.
