SAINT JOHN – The Saint John Sea Dogs are excited to announce the launch of the MOvember Challenge.
It’s a new way for the team to increase awareness and donations during the month of November which go toward causes dealing with men’s health issues.
All Saint John Sea Dogs players will be clean-shaven in time for Friday’s home game against the Moncton Wildcats, coinciding with the start of the online fundraising campaign through MOvember.ca.
This year, Sea Dogs will also be making a donation to the campaign that will increase with rising attendance numbers.
If the Sea Dogs average 3,800 fans during the seven home games in November, the team will donate $5,000. If the average hits five thousand fans per game, the team will donate $15,000. If it reaches six thousand fans, the team will donate $30,000.
In addition, the Sea Dogs will donate $10,000 for any game which is sold out.
“The CHL has actively promoted MOvember for the past few seasons, and we thought as an organization that we wanted to up the ante and increase the amount of funds raised for this important cause,” said Sea Dogs’ President Wayne Long. “Seeing that we are raising young men in our organization, we thought it was important to increase awareness of men’s health issues.”
Sea Dogs’ fans will also have a chance to take home additional prizes during home games next month.
At the November 27th game against the Charlottetown Islanders, one lucky fan will get a chance to “Shoot to Win” a BRAND NEW CAR, courtesy of Downey Ford!
During each game, the Foundation will raffle off alumni jerseys worn by former Sea Dogs’ players during the Wallace McCain Memorial Alumni Weekend in August.
Also, in conjunction with the regular 50/50 draw, the Foundation will offer extra cash giveaways of at least $500 per game, and a $5,000 prize November 30th when the Sea Dogs host the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies.
More information on in-game promotions and fan prizing will be released in the coming days.
