The Saint John Sea Dogs (19-18-1-0) finished the decade with a bang, defeating the Halifax Mooseheads (15-18-2-1) 6-4 in a high scoring matchup, thanks to a hat trick from new acquisition Jeffrey Durocher.

The Mooseheads opened the scoring with a shot from the point that was tipped by Jeffrey Burridge at 6:45.

Shots at the end of the first were 15-8 for Saint John.
Jeffrey Durocher scored two quick goals to tie the game early in the second, starting with a power play goal only 13 seconds into the second period and following it with the game tying goal 12 seconds later, spinning in front of the net and sending the puck between Alexis Gravel’s legs to the back of the net.
Jordan Spadafore was sent off for roughing at 5:26. As he left the box, he picked up a pass from Ben Badalamenti behind the Halifax defencemen and gave the Sea Dogs the lead.

With 53 seconds left in the period, the Sea Dogs increased the lead to two when a shot from Charles Savoie was tipped in by Dawson Stairs in front of the net.

Cole McLaren replaced Alexis Gravel in the Mooseheads net at the start of the third period.
Brady Burns kept with the puck, picking up the rebound from a Jordan Spadafore shot and sending the puck through Cole McLaren’s five-hole at 6:44.
Two goals by the Mooseheads from Senna Peeters and Zack Jones brought the score back within one.
The Mooseheads pulled their goaltender and called a timeout in an attempt to force the game to overtime, but Matt Gould picked up the puck in the Halifax zone and shot it towards the open net. Jeffrey Durocher got a piece of it, completing his hat trick and ensuring the win.
