Jeff Hansen Promoted to Associate Coach

Hansen joined the Sea Dogs in August of 2022 as the defensive coordinator.
“I am extremely excited for the opportunity to grow within such a great organization” said Hansen. “I’m very fortunate to work with such a great, hard working staff that challenges and makes each other better daily. Working towards bringing another championship to Saint John is a vision that we all share and I’m honored to be able to play a key part in that.”
Hansen joined the Sea Dogs in August of 2022 after spending 9 years in the Western Hockey League (WHL) including five years as Assistant Coach with the Lethbridge Hurricanes and four years as Video Coach with the Calgary Hitmen. He also represented Canada, serving as Video Coach at both the 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 Would U17 Hockey Challenge.
“Jeff brings a decade of coaching experience at the major junior level and has made an immediate impact on the development of our defensemen” said Head Coach Travis Crickard. “Moreover, his knowledge of player development, passion for coaching, and desire to learn have proven to be welcome components to our coaching staff. I am excited for Jeff to accept this well-deserved promotion as he progresses in his coaching career.”
This past season, the Calgary, AB native’s responsibilities included the penalty kill (9th in the QMJHL), defensemen development, and many aspects of the team’s structural play. All three of those areas showed significant improvement in the second half of the season.
