subwayThe Saint John Sea Dogs (15-27-1-1) snapped their losing streak with a decisive 7-3 win over the Acadie-Bathurst Titan (15-22-5-2) in Bathurst tonight. Defenceman Nicolas Bilodeau led the way for the Sea Dogs with his first QMJHL hat trick in the game, while forwards Alexis Cournoyer, Cole Burbidge, Noah Reinhart, and Brady Burns all found the back of the net once.

Dylan Andrews led the Titan with two goals.

The game started with back and forth play between the two teams, with neither able to score. At 8:25, Nate Tivey was sent off for hooking, and the Titan received the first power play opportunity of the night.

The Sea Dogs were able to kill the penalty and four minutes later received a power play opportunity of their own when William Bishop was sent off for delay of game.

It was the Titan that scored on that penalty, when Noah Ryan broke the shutout shorthanded a minute later.

Ryan was then sent off with a hooking minor, and the Sea Dogs received another power play opportunity. This time, they succeeded when Alexis Cournoyer tipped a shot from Sea Dogs captain Charlie DesRoches past the Titan netminder to tie the game with less than 4 minutes remaining in the period.

Shots after the first were 19-14 for Saint John

Saint John put more pressure on to start the second frame and it paid off 8:14 in when Cole Burbidge found the back of the net on a passing play with Luka Benit and Brady Burns, weaving through the Titan’ s defence.

At 9:08, Jacob Beaulieu and Nolan Forster were sent off for roughing.

Just after the penalties expired, Nicolas Bilodeau added to the lead with, scoring off the rebound of a shot by Noah Reinhart.

At 14:43, Dylan Andrews cut the Sea Dogs lead in half, but less than two minutes later, Noah Reinhart restored the two goal lead sending a shot through traffic.

With less than two minutes remaining in the period, Andrews was sent off for interference and with 1.8 remaining, Alex Drover took a hooking penalty sending play to 4-on-4 again to begin the final period.

Shots after the second were 25-22 for Saint John.

The Titan opened the final period with a quick goal, Dylan Andrews scoring his second goal of the night one minute in on the power play.

That would be the last goal for Bathurst as the Sea Dogs extended their lead and brought the game out of reach.

At 6:05, Nicolas Bilodeau scored his second of the night, ripping a shot from the slot off a pass from Jared Cosman, beating Fleming on the glove side.

Less than three minutes later, Bilodeau completed his first QMJHL hat trick with another shot down the slot, his seventh goal of the season.

At 14:17, Brady Burns put the final nail in the coffin, adding a goal of his own with a quick wrist shot off a pass from Cole Burbidge from behind the net.

Final shots were 37-34 for Saint John.
