SUBWAY GAME RECAP: Sea Dogs Shut Out by Rimouski in Game Four Loss

The Saint John Sea Dogs (2-2-0-0) were shut out by Rimouski Océanic (2-2-0-0) to force a game five in Rimouski on Tuesday night. Patrik Hamrla put up a 40 save performance in net for the Oceanic, earning first star honours. Thomas Couture started in net for Saint John, making 12 saves in the 1-0 loss. Rimouski’s William Dumoulin scored the sole goal of the game.
A few penalties gave the special teams their opportunities, but neither team was able to score in the first period in Rimouski. William Dufour was the first to head to the box, a tripping call at 8:45, followed by a pair of roughing penalties to Philippe Daoust and William Dumoulin at 12:55 that sent play to 4-on-4 for two minutes, finally, the Sea Dogs received a power play opportunity at 15:08 when Ludovic Soucy was called for hooking.
Shots after the first were tied at 8.
Rimouski scored the first goal of the night 6:04 into the second period, when William Dumoulin got the puck past Couture.
The rest of the period was characterized by huge saves in the Rimouski net from Hamrla, shutting down the Sea Dogs scoring opportunities as they outshot the Oceanic – in the period.
Charles Côté was sent off with a major and a game misconduct for a hit to the head against William Villeneuve and the Sea Dogs ended the period on an extended power play.
Shots after the second were 20-11 for Saint John.
The Sea Dogs outshot the Oceanic 19-3 in the final period, but were unable to get past Patrik Hamrla who put on a show in front of the Rimouski crowd, who gave him a standing ovation for his performance.
Big chances were all turned aside as Hamrla put up a shutout to force game five.
Final shots were 40-14 for Saint John.
